Last weekend (13/14 June) saw an open free surf event and the 2009 team training go ahead in sunny Clare. We did an early and late surf in Doughmore on the Saturday to correspond with the high tide. With the small swell it was the best chance of getting a good wave and we were rewarded with a small but heavy shore break both times. On the Sunday, thanks to some great local knowledge, we made the move to Doolin. The swell was very southerly and to most peoples amazement there was some good size there.
The crowd split in two here, with one group staying on Doolin beach and getting some lovely surf while three brave souls took the long paddle to crab island where the surf couldnt really be called lovely, maybe terrifying is a better word, but it provided for some very high heart beats and much excited chat for days to follow. What a wave!
And what a good weekend. - sun, clean surf and good company.

this weekend is on!
as per the calendar on www.paddlesurf.ie this weekend is scheduled as a fun event in Clare. As the Cork event failed to run due to lack of surf we are now considering it as a location for this weekend. there will be another mail go out in the next few days to confirm the location but it will go ahead some where.
This weekend is also a worlds team training event. we all need to get together and spend time improving and working as a team.
hopefully see you there (where ever there is!)

'Please note that 23rd June 2009 will be the deadline for team and individual entries for the World Surf Kayak Championships 2009.'
There is no notice on how to register or pay but Im sure itll be uploaded soon. |
