The first competition of the year ran off in Doughmore Co. Clare and was a reminder to all that paddle fitness is important especially for competition on a beach break. 

We had good strong overhead surf but a short period, moderate onshore and heavy dump so wave selections and paddling out were tough. There were a swimmer or two during the day.

We had good performances from everyone and highlights included Eoin’s performance in the Repercharge and Mickey’s in the final.  Results are below and points will be eligible for use in the 2010 rankings.

A Special thank you to everyone who stayed after the competition and took part in the beach cleanup for our small contribution towards the Surfrider Cleanup.
