World Waveski Titles 2009
Thursday, 10 September 2009 12:06
World Waveski Titles are currently underway in Coffs Harbour in Australia.
as per the calendar on www.paddlesurf.ie this weekend is scheduled as a fun event in Clare. As the Cork event failed to run due to lack of surf we are now considering it as a location for this weekend. there will be another mail go out in the next few days to confirm the location but it will go ahead some where.
This weekend is also a worlds team training event. we all need to get together and spend time improving and working as a team.
hopefully see you there (where ever there is!)
Update on Team Selection
Tuesday, 31 March 2009 10:45
The points from Team Selection 1. are listed below. This is a reminder to everyone that you need to let us know if you want to be considered for a team place. There's no reason not to put your name forward and if you don't know if you will be free it's still better to register and explain your situation. Also make sure to request for 2008 points to be considered if you have missed a selection event.
The last competition of the 'Watertech Surf Kayaks' Irish league was held in Clare in December in offshore conditions and blue skies. The swell height dictated a beach break competition and even though the conditions were a little tricky there was some great rides to be had.
It brings to an end what was a highly competitive year and a first for Ireland - a manufacture sponsored league. Through the year we had big turn outs for comps and for fun events and the first International Waveski Competition for years. We had some cancelled events for lack of waves but when we did get surf we’ve had some of the best surf conditions anyone can remember stretching from Cork to Sligo.
Marty McCann took the overall waveski title for 2008 while there were two brand new boats from Watertech Kayaks as prizes in the kayak division making the stakes even higher. The Speedy for best overall was won by Chris Hobson after two wins and a finals position. While the Lucifer for best new comer went to Conor Bredin.
